Repurpose/Upcycle Contest

Create for a Cause! 

 

Inspire Marianas presents an AMAZING upcycling contest opportunity! 

 

Create a completely different item, with a completely different purpose from items around your house or locally sourced in Guam, and submit your creation. 

​

Entries must be made from Garment items only.

 

Creations must be submitted on or before March 22nd, 2023 and will be displayed at Maolek Market at Plaza de Espana on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 4 pm to 11 pm. 

​

All entries will be up for bid and each participant will receive 50% of the total bid price while the other 50% of the total bid price will go to Inspire Marianas for future programs and events.

Who Can Enter:

 

•     Contestants must be legal residents of Guam  Inspire Marianas members and immediate family members of those members are ineligible.

 

•  Must be 13 years of age, or older, to enter.

 

•  Contest runs from Thursday, March  16th, 2023 to Thursday, March 23, 2023.  (The submission form will close at 11:59 p.m. (Guam Time) on March 22nd, 2023.)

 

 How to Enter:

 

1. Find a garment item inside your home or source it locally in Guam and use it to create a completely different item, with a completely different purpose.  

2. Take two photos;  before and after of your completed project.

3. Sign-up here

4. Submit your finished product on or before Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 3 PM at Maolek Market at Plaza de Espana or drop off your finished product before Wednesday, March 22, 2023, to The Village Thrift at Compadres Mall. 

 

 Rules & Guidelines:

 

 Upcycle project must have been completed in 2023.

 One entry per person. If you submit multiple entries, only your first entry will be counted.

 Photos, and items created, need to remain tasteful; anything deemed otherwise will not be approved for the voting round.

​

 Inspire Marianas reserves the right not to select a winner if, in its sole discretion, no suitable entries are received.

 

Inspire Marianas is also not responsible for any injury or damage to any entrant or entries in this contest. 

 

All entries become the property of Inspire Marianas and will not be returned. 

 

All entries will be up for bidding and the highest bidder will be able to purchase the item(s). 

​

All entrants will receive 50% of the total bid amount and the other 50% of the total bid amount will be donated directly to Inspire Marianas.

Fan Voting:

 Fan voting will begin Thursday, March 23,  2023 at 5PM (Guam Time) and end on Thursday, March 23,  2023 at 10PM (Guam Time). 

 

To vote for an entry, you must be present at Maolek Market on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 5 PM to 10 PM.  Visit the Inspire Marianas tent at Maolek Market. All entries will be on display.  

 

Each person may only cast their vote once.

 

 When voting, please be sure to view all of the entries, so that you don’t miss out on any of the unique and talented entries!

How to Bid: 

Visit the Inspire Marianas booth at Maolek Market on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 4PM to 10PM to place your bid on the entries. The highest bidders at 10PM on Thursday, March 23, 2023 will get to keep the entry.

Prizes:

 

 First Place will receive a $50 The Village Thrift Gift Card

 Second Place will receive a $25 The Village Thrift Gift Card

 Third Place will receive a $20 The Village Thrift Gift Card

The top 3 entries, with the most fan votes, will be submitted to the final round of judging; done by a panel of Inspire Marianas judges (see guidelines). Inspire Marianas reserves the right to pull additional entries if they see fit.

 

 The winner will be announced at 10:30 PM and on Instagram & Facebook, pages on March 23, 2023, at 10:30 PM.

 

 First Place will receive a $100 The Village Thrift Gift Card

 Second Place will receive a $50 The Village Thrift Gift Card

 Third Place will receive a $25 The Village Thrift Gift Card
